Tigers Around Town

Billet Families Needed

The Aurora Tigers are currently seeking interested families to billet our out-of-town players. Billeting hockey players can be a very exciting and rewarding experience.

Opening your home to these players takes a special kind of family - with a great big heart – you are providing a stable and secure home away from home, within a socially responsible family environment.

Billet Families are a very important part of our Team as well.  We could not train a successful team without family support for all our players.

To find out more about how you can become part of our Tiger family, please contact Tigers’ owner, Jim Thomson 289-221-1383

Tigers Clean Up

The Team played in Stouffville on Saturday Sept 17 which kept them from attending the Magna Hoedown. But who comes the day after to clean up... Aurora Tigers Jr. A!  Every player was on site, bright and early for this workout. Cleaning up the bales of hay, corn stalks, stalking chairs, tables and checking out the Big Boot! Check out more pics in the Photo Gallery.

"Do you think I will be a Tiger one day?"

Jim - thanks again for having the players come out to the Atom HL practices yesterday.  It went extremely well.  The feedback has been nothing but positive.  I know the boys had a late one Saturday night and to be at the rink and on the ice at 7a (and for four hours) didn't go unnoticed.  They were in good spirits and ran great practices and the kids kids had so much fun.  Having them come to each teams dressing room afterwards to chat with them was a really nice touch.

I am not sure you noticed, but I saw a lot of our Atom kids at the game on Saturday night and those who attended were especially thrilled to see their favourite players at their practice the next morning - that was pretty surreal for them.  They specifically mentioned one player who chatted with all the kids in the tunnel between periods who also showed up at their practice.   The way your team is engaging with the local hockey community is really appreciated.  I had a few kids that were even rattling off player stats which I thought was awesome.

This comment was sent to me from one of the coaches "My son laid in bed tonight and said "Dad, that was such a great weekend of hockey and I got to meet 6 Tiger players last night and today. Do you think I will be a Tiger one day?" This is where the dreams begin Scott, many find it easier to relate to and idolize players like these guys vs. NHL players."

Tigers Ride The Big Bike - May 7, 2016

Starting at Orchard Heights, the Tigers peddled their way down Yonge Street on Saturday May 7 in support of The Heart & Stroke Foundation.  Selfie sticks, tunes and a good pair of peddlers ... our Team raised over $1400.  Just one way our boys stay in shape in the off-season!

Salvation Army Kettle Drive 2015

Thank you for these very good words

Sir;

I would like to commend the young men (these were not boys) you had come out to my sons' Atom HL practice at 0700 hrs on Sunday, 13 December 2015. These young men show great skills, motivation, dedication and drive. They, in my opinion, were excellent! Their demonstrations of the drills were first rate. They showed the boys what they could become and how to do it. They also showed humour and a love of the game. They played around with the boys joking, playing keep away and not always scoring on the goalies. A few even performed the drills with the boys and celebrated with them when either a Tiger or player scored.

During the scrimmage at the end of the practice some of them showed great motivation to want to be on the ice with the boys. From the stands it looked like they were enjoying themselves and building comraderie with the kids on the bench. When the Tigers were on the ice, they played to the level of the boys. They did not try to show boat around them but passed to them and let the boys get the puck/go around them. It made it enjoyable to watch.

I would like to thank you for making this possible. I think it was great idea. My son was excited and happy and motivated after practice. Which is pretty hard to be after a 0700 hrs practice on a Sunday for a 10 year old. I can only hope you continue this so that other boys (and my 7 year old son) get a chance each year to practice with some of their hometown heroes.
